The Singularly Sensitive®
Disenfranchised Grief Mini-Retreat

If you’re grieving a loss that you can’t seem to explain to other people, but you know it’s real to you…

If people expect you to be “over it”, when you’ve barely been able to acknowledge it to yourself or have other people recognize your loss…

If people (maybe even you) think you’re being too sensitive or making too much out of this loss…

If you need a way to honor your loss when a funeral isn’t the right ritual…

You Deserve a Place Where You Can Be Honest About Your Losses and Express Your Grief in Ways that Suit Who You Are

The Disenfranchised Grief Mini-Retreat is an intimate, virtual gathering space where sensitive, introverted, and/or neurodiverse women can name their losses and be witnessed by the Singularly Sensitive community.

This gathering is especially for women who are holding what’s known as disenfranchised grief: events and situations that aren’t recognized and held by our culture as losses, so there’s never a real mourning ritual or social support given to us.

Disenfranchised grief includes things like:

  • deaths of people you might no longer have a relationship with or who are public figures that you “knew” through their work

  • the end of a relationship that was never officially called one

  • health changes and the lifestyle shifts that accompany them

  • hidden losses and changes in status (health, finances, age, social standing)

  • a version of yourself you had to leave behind or that never got to become fully realized

  • the ambiguous, ongoing, or unrecognized losses that other people wish you'd stop talking about.

Disenfranchised grief can be especially hard to work with when we’re prone to overthinking, feel our emotions and connections deeply, and don’t have a group of people who get why these losses are so hard to mourn

If this sounds all too familiar and you’re ready to name your losses and to witness other people’s, please join us for a mini-retreat designed especially for your disenfranchised grief.

We’ll write, reflect, share, connect with nature, and visualize our intentions for the future. Come experience the relief that arises from having your grief witnessed and held.
