Soundings Circles
A free monthly gathering for highly sensitive people to write, reflect, and find a soft community space within the Singularly Sensitive landscape.
Some things are hard to hold alone.
The awareness of living in a world that moves too fast. The quiet grief of having to stifle yourself to fit in. The longing for a community that actually gets what it's like to feel everything as deeply as you do.
The Soundings Circle is a monthly gathering for highly sensitive people who are ready to stop carrying all of that alone. Each circle gathers around a theme — self-trust, seasons, leadership, belonging, and others — and moves through writing, reflection, and supportive witnessing.
Our gatherings are a gentle introduction to the Singularly Sensitive approach, forest therapy principles, and what it means to live with gentle joy.
You don't need to prepare or perform. You just need to show up.
Come into the Soundings Circle. We’ve been waiting for you.
What Happens in Soundings Circles?
Each gathering is guided by a set of questions that Lori Cangilla creates to help the community engage with the theme of the month. There are no right answers, just a process of gentle introspection that invites you to open up to something new within yourself.
You'll write. Quietly, with no one watching.
Then, you'll have the option to share some of what emerged. You'll witness what others share.
What tends to happen is then?
You’ll discover that you’re not the only one who feels this way. That the thing you thought made you strange is, in this room, widely familiar. That being witnessed by kindred spirits does something to the part of you that has been bracing against judgment or rejection.
You'll leave having touched something real — in yourself and in the community forming around you.
To put it another way: it’s magic.
“I adore these gatherings. They feel like such a good fit. I always walk away feeling so uplifted and connected.”

June 8th: Mindfulness through Nature Journaling
Mindfulness doesn’t have to be a confusing, abstract concept. We’ll apply mindfulness principles by engaging in nature journaling. We’ll observe the nature around us (in your home, yard, or an outdoor setting of your choice) and record those observations in whatever means you prefer—words, photos, drawings, paintings, etc. Strengthening our observational skills and making note of our questions, without judging what we observe, are fundamental parts of nature journaling and other mindfulness practices. Please join me in this applied mindfulness experience. Register in the calendar below.

Soundings Circles:
A Word from Lori Cangilla about the Values of This Community
I believe the world is worth fighting for and that the work of healing ourselves is inseparable from the work of healing it.
These are values I hold and live by:
Climate change is real and demands our urgent attention. No one is illegal on stolen land. Love is love. Trans women are women, trans men are men, and all genders beyond the binary are valid and beautiful.
I believe in mutual aid over extraction, economies of care over exploitation and competition, and collective liberation over individual advancement at others' expense. I am committed to dismantling in myself and in my work the harmful effects of white supremacy, patriarchy, and every system that diminishes human dignity.
My work is rooted in these values, and so is the community I'm building.
If these values resonate with you, I’m excited to welcome you to the Soundings Circles. This space is here for you!
